Fairmont experience in Pres Club?

Postby 100,000miler » Fri Sep 25, 2009 6:34 pm

I have Plat status with Fairmont but I really do not stay there that often although I love them. Prices are often over my petty budget. I would like to hear others experience with FM as I am thinking of trying to concentrate on them as I find Hilton wanting and I have Diamond status with Hilton not that it means that much!

I was just at the Royal York and it is such a nice hotel.

Parking rates are expensive at the locations I have been at.RY is approx.35.00 per night.

I like the chain, but find their city center locations not nearly as convenient as other chains have airport locations(YVR the exception).

Someone I know that is one of their top 300 worldwide VIP customers.Perhaps he could post here

30 nights/year is required for Plat status so that would seem to be often enough. Do you mean not often compared to how many total nights you spend in hotels per year?

FWIW I'm a Fairmont fan but not an elite and get the sense from another site that FPC elite perks were scaled back a few years ago and aren't as generous as they once were.

I like FPC, yes bennies have been reduced a little, but still a good chain and program that works well for me.

Plat status is either 30 nights or 10 stays. The latter may be easy for you to achieve.

I like the room and suite upgrade options, two US$50 dinng certs, free internet and the always answered Plat line.

To make your stays more affordable, book online and enter NFAF in the promo box.

I continue to use FPC for 10 stays annually to secure my platinum membership as I like the program, fairly consistent upgrades and you can't beat the confirmed suite upgrades, some of the suites I have been upgraded to are amazing. Looking forward to my next stay on the NFAF rate in Mayakoba in a Signature Casita Suite!!!

Anyway, I believe with the NFAF you have to get a booking number from a Fairmont employee to validate the rate, that is what I had been told anyway. There are several on FT who would assist you. Just got a very good rate at both the Mayakoba and YVR Fairmont.

Nope, I use NFAF frequently with no employee or other intervention.

Fairmont Waterfront for $115 this past weekend, or $150 for Fairmont Gold. Opted for the Gold as I can eat more than the $35 :P All booked using NFAF, AND earning AP points that it explicitly says cant be done, but asks you for a FFP number.

Good to know and glad I entered my AE number when prompted. I was mistakenly under the impression that you needed to enter an employee number. Got a $130 at YVR Airport in a couple of weeks and $119.00 for the Suite in Mayakoba. I was going to use the complimentary room but at this price is wasn't worth it.

The NAFA rate is a gold mine but I thought you needed an secret number, which I happen to have from a senior employee. Even better to hear it can be accessed without one.

Many of us have booked numerous rooms at Fairmont through the call centre. I can hear the words about room can be cancelled up to 6pm day of arrival, they are firmly imprinted in me. I wrongly assumed the same cancellation policy would apply to the NFAF I booked online, I didn't bother to read the Ts and Cs. Called to cancel a room about noon day of arrival to be told that rate has a 24 hour policy. I apologised profusely, quickly accepted full blame for not reading the Ts and Cs, explained how many times I've heard 6pm day of and wrongly assumed. A supervisor came on and waived any charges. Thank you Fairmont.

Just a heads up for others though who use this rate and need to cancel for some reason.
