ECERT ELECTRONIC UPGRADES WORKING VERY WELL

Recommended Posts

I just upgraded my wife at the 7 day window for an overseas flight using the online ecert process. She has no status. The system worked exceedingly well and while it allocated a seat I was able to go in and get a different one right away.

Good work AC

Passed the 80K tier ad the ecerts posted within a day of the flights posting.

Also bought a Latitude NA pass. The 12 ecerts took 12 days to post.

My wife's return flight worked out very well using an ecert. The system is pretty good

I agree that the system is working very well so far. Much easier requesting upgrades and the four elected persons are a nice touch.

The only issue I had was a misunderstanding about being able to upgrade travelling companions. I assumed that if you had someone you were travelling with, you didn't need to have them on your elected list. This is not the case, in order for you to upgrade a travelling companion who is not on your elected list, they need to be on the same PNR. I thought they could have been clearer with this information.

As I mentioned, otherwise, working like a charm...successful upgrades both ways on my recent T+ trip from YYZ-BGI so all is good!

Enjoyed BGI for a few days, heading to AUA for our summer break instead of CUN this year, never been so won't be able to comment until late July. I hear good things though and Marriott have a number of properties to choose from in AUA, some with the all inclusive option which works well for the kids, and daddy's beer habit. ^^

AUA is great in the summer - perfect weather, comfortable breeze, wonderful beaches. I used to go every July but I haven't been there in a long time. I can only imagine how much has changed! I recall the Marriott being at the end of the Palm Beach strip with the hotel building and the separate timeshare building next door which was brand new at the time. Their casino was tight but served nice stiff drinks!

Thanks for the info. We are staying at the Renaissance which is in Oranjestad, they have a family section and an adults only section. The real benefit of the property is you have unlimited access to a private off shore island with a nice beach and calm water for swimming and snorkelling. I was told by an Aruba regular that the Palm beach areas can get quite crowded at the Marriott Stellaris with the two large time share properties next door, that being said, using this visit to see how we like the island and what works best. Very much looking forward to it and also understand it is out of the hurricane belt after experiencing a minor tropical storm in CUN last year.

I think the Renaissance is the former Sonesta hotel - the one with the boat shuttle that leaves from the hotel lobby. It's right downtown near the shopping malls. If you're not planning on renting a car, the Arubus (which is actually a perfectly normal & reliable city bus) runs between downtown and the Palm Beach strip. There are many spots on the strip - some quieter than others - you will have to explore and find the one(s) you like. Yes, the climate is semi-desert like with constant tradewinds. I recommend going on a horseback riding excursion to explore some of the scenery and the sand dunes. Dining out on the island really adds up $$ for a family so a timeshare or all-inclusive is definitely the way to go. CUN is so overrated, you'll like AUA much better!

I'm thinking of making a trip down there in the fall if I can earn enough SPG resort nights from the promotion to stay at the Westin!

Yes they do work well but so they should. I am still smarting over the few number of eCredits we get, far from what we used to get with the paper certs!

This leads me to ask how many each of you have left? How do you manage the few you get?

I have been fortune to score some good Z fares so as to save up my eCredits. But by year of this AE season, I expect it to be a stretch unless I fork over Latitude or M fares. Basically the new system is far less generous than the old one unless you (or more likely your company) are able to buy Latitude fares which is exactly what the new system is designed to force you to do.

You all should take a peek at FT.There are some there that openly admit to brokering and setting up a system for cash.

AC will need to find a way to close those loopholes.
